Mayo Clinic Conference Recap: Building Connections in Healthcare IT

The Lane team is always striving to elevate our knowledge and connect with key industry players for the opportunity to elevate our existing solutions and serve a broader range of needs.

Recently, we had the pleasure of attending the Mayo Clinic Conference in Rochester, Minnesota, where we gained new insights, forged valuable connections, and enjoyed the local charm.

About the Mayo Clinic Conference

This year’s Mayo Clinic Conference was a premier event, leveraging the Laboratory Conference that offered Continuing Education courses with credits for current Mayo Clinic customers. The intended audience included individuals from hospital laboratories, such as administrators and directors, business managers, operations managers, outreach coordinators, phlebotomy managers, marketing representatives, laboratory managers, pathologists, and sales managers.

Lane attended the conference to show our ongoing support for Clinisys products alongside other attending vendors like XIFIN.

The keynote speakers at this year’s Mayo Clinic event included:

  • Guillermo Martinez-Torres – Aligning Laboratory Culture and Staff for the Future
  • Drew Wilkinson – Shifting Market Forces & Outreach Adaptation

Our Key Takeaways from the Program

The conference provided numerous takeaways and actionable insights. Upon completion of the program, participants should be able to:

  • Develop and advance laboratory outreach strategies.
  • Establish a competitive advantage.
  • Refine outreach infrastructure areas.
  • Connect and share best practices with peers.

The program was approved for continuing education by both the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® and the State of Florida. It offers a maximum of 11 P.A.C.E.® contact hours and General credit for the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel.

Connecting with Industry Professionals

Throughout the conference, we connected with several members of the healthcare industry:

  • Visited with a current customer who praised Lane’s product and services.
  • Collaborated with the Clinsys team regarding password-protected PDF files.
  • Three hospital systems inquired about using an API gateway requesting Lane as their faxing partner.
  • Interest from a hospital system in integration of Lane’s products with their LIS, specifically into the patient portal to view results.
  • Digital faxing transformation discussions with several hospital systems.
  • Lane had a drawing for a JBL Flip 5 speaker and the winner was from OSF Healthcare – CONGRATS!!!!

What We Enjoyed Most in Rochester, MN

Rochester, with its population of approximately 120,000 people, is a rural and spread-out city. Interestingly, both Uber drivers who had lived there for over 20 years got lost while navigating to and from the airport!

We also had an exquisite dinner at Terza Italian, savoring their parmesan-crusted walleye with broccoli florets. Additionally, there were opportunities for fishing at Silver Lake, located conveniently near our hotel.
