This week, we would like to introduce you to John Mynott. John Mynott has been with Lane for over 30 years, and during that time, he held a variety of roles. John’s expertise is an integral part of our company, and we are grateful for all that he does to help us run smoothly! In this blog post, we will give you a little background on John and also shine a light on his work at Lane.
How long have you been working with Lane?
John began his full time career with Lane in 1988, only 12 years after its establishment.
Describe your various roles at Lane. How long were you in each role?
John started as a Sales Support Engineer for Lane and over the years worked through a variety of roles all involving support of customers. John grew into Support Manager where he remained for decades.
What is the best memory you have of working at Lane?
Throughout his tenure at Lane, John had the pleasure of traveling to many different countries in Africa and Europe, as well as Asia. His role has taken him to Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Portugal, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Pakistan, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Some of these trips lasted around 3 days, for example in Seychelles. Other trips such as travels in Egypt lasted up to 2 weeks – working in Cairo, Hurghada and in the Western Desert. The life experiences and travel that Lane provided included culture and life enjoyment outside of work.
What are some of your interests outside your work here at Lane?
John thoroughly enjoys a good game of golf and plays 2 – 3 times a week. Otherwise, he enjoys watching theater and cinema in his free time.
Talk about some of the changes you’ve seen at Lane since you began working here.
“Perhaps the biggest change we’ve undergone is going from supplying our own proprietary system of manufactured hardware in Houston, to now being solely a software supplier. I’d also like to add that since the pandemic, there hasn’t been as much need to travel to resolve issues. In terms of growth, I started at Lane with only 15 people on the team. Now, we have an entire powerhouse of talented teams and individuals.” – John
